The trek from Kalaw to Inle Lake can be done in two to three days, but this extended trek is done in six days and five nights. The first two days lead from Kalaw to the north in an anticlockwise direction around the town, over the Viewpoint and to the railroad south of town. The next four days the route heads more or less to the east and finally reaches Khaung Daing Village at the shore of Inle Lake. Mainly easy up and down walking from village to village along farmlands, through hills and over low mountains. Sleeping in local people's homes and buddhist monasteries.
